To calculate the vehicle's consumption rate in miles per gallon (mpg), you divide the total miles driven by the total gallons of gasoline used:
\[ \text{Consumption rate (mpg)} = \frac{\text{Total miles driven}}{\text{Total gallons used}} \]
\[ \text{Consumption rate (mpg)} = \frac{90 \text{ miles}}{4 \text{ gallons}} \]
\[ \text{Consumption rate (mpg)} = 22.5 \text{ mpg} \]
So the vehicle's consumption rate is 22.5 miles per gallon.
