How modern civilization has impacted the spiritual lives of indigenous people?

Many indigenous people were forced or convinced to change their religions when their lands were invaded by Christians or Muslims. Some of these people, however, kept their basic spirituality while following the new religion.

There are a few different ways to tackle this question. You could look at how the religions changed from a very small, tribal faith to fit in more with a globalized context.

You could argue the point that many still practice their faith now and ignore society, but then you'd have to describe how civilization still has an impact on the group to answer the question, so that is difficult.

You could look at American indigenous people or you could look at other countries.
