If y varies directly as x and y is 3 when x is 8, what is the constant of the variation?
I don't understand what they are asking and how to solve this. Please help if you can! Thank you so much! :)

y proportional to x (I can't make the proportional sign on my calculator).
If it is directly proportinal, then
then we can add an equal sign and a k to replace the proportional sign.
y = kx
Now if y = 3 and x= 8, then k = y/x = 3/8
