The urinary system, which is a part of the excretory system, consists of four major organs:
1. Kidneys: The kidneys are bean-shaped organs located on both sides of the spine, below the rib cage. They filter waste products, excess salts, and toxins from the blood, producing urine.
2. Ureters: Two narrow tubes called ureters connect the kidneys to the urinary bladder. They transport urine from the kidneys to the bladder.
3. Urinary bladder: The urinary bladder is a muscular sac-like organ located in the pelvic region. Its main function is to store urine until it is eliminated from the body through urination.
4. Urethra: The urethra is a narrow tube that connects the bladder to the external opening of the body. It allows urine to pass from the bladder out of the body during the process of urination.
