In the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee, Scout finds two different items in the knothole of the oak tree. The first item she finds is a piece of gum, and the second item is two Indian head pennies.
As for who put these items in the knothole, it is later revealed that Boo Radley, the reclusive neighbor, was the one who left them. Boo Radley placed these small gifts in the knothole as a way to connect with Scout and Jem, and to express his kindness and friendship towards them. Given Boo's isolation from society and his desire for connection, leaving these small tokens of friendship was his way of reaching out to the children and showing them that he cared for them.
What two different items does Scout find in the knothole of the oaktree? Who do you think put them there and why?
