Solve for x: log(subscript)3(3x+1)-log(subscript)3(x-1)=2

Change that to
(3x+1)/(x-1) = 3^2 = 9
3x+1 = 9x - 9
and proceed to solve that
(3x+1)/(x-1) = 3^2 = 9
3x+1 = 9x - 9
