There is currently no large Islamic country actively trying to join the European Union. The European Union is composed of 27 member states, primarily located in Europe. It is a political and economic union, and membership is open to European countries that meet certain criteria. Turkey, a majority-Muslim country, has been in a long-standing process of seeking EU membership, but it has faced various challenges and negotiations are currently stalled. However, Turkey is not widely considered a large Islamic country as the majority of its territory lies outside of the Middle East.
