Divide 30 by half and add 10. What do you get? I think it is 70, but my friend disagrees. He thinks it's 12.

It is 70 unless you are actually dividing by 2 instead of one half.
30 / (1/2) = 30 * 2 = 60
60 + 10 = 70
I don't understand how your friend got 12.

60 + 10 = 70

i think it is 25. Both your friend and you are wrong because when you divide 30 by half you get 15.So 15+10=25.

Your not dividing IN half, but BY half. I did it the way of using fractions. Because half is .5 or 1/2. I have no idea how he got 12 either!
