Ireland remained neutral during World War I and was often referred to as a "neutral oasis" in Europe during that time. However, in 1916, Ireland experienced its own conflict known as the Easter Rising, which was a rebellion against British rule. The uprising was quickly suppressed by the British, leading to a period of political turmoil and eventually the Irish War of Independence in 1919. The Irish Civil War then followed in 1922-1923, which arose from disagreements over the terms of the Anglo-Irish Treaty that ended the War of Independence.
Before November 1916, this country was considered the most neutral country during WW1 but sadly had its own Civil War in 1963
