Based on this understanding, it is now known that life can exist in extreme environments, such as high-pressure environments or extreme temperatures. Therefore, it is possible that alien life could exist in other environments beyond Earth (National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), 2021).
3. Advancements in exoplanet discoveries: Over the years, there has been a significant increase in our ability to detect exoplanets, presenting tantalizing data on the possibility of life beyond Earth. As of June 2021, the number of confirmed exoplanets discovered by the NASA Kepler mission is over 4,000 with more than 3,000 additional candidates still waiting to be confirmed (NASA, 2021). The knowledge gathered from these discoveries indicates that there could be millions of inadvertently-detectable extraterrestrial civilizations in our galaxy alone (Wright et al., 2014).
In conclusion, the vastness of the universe, advancements in astrobiology, and exoplanet exploration, and discoveries all contribute to supporting the existence of alien life, each providing additional evidence that enhances our understanding of the possibility of extraterrestrial life. While we are yet to find explicit proof of alien life, these facts suggest that there is a high likelihood that it exists.
