                I dropped an object from a certain height and gravity was acting on it. What type of motion is that and how do I know this?

    acceleration = -g = -9.8 m/s^2
velocity up = v = Vi - 9.8 t
if you just dropped it, Vinitial = 0 so
v = -9.8 t
then if initial height is h and height is z
z = h - (1/2)(9.8) t^2
z = h - 4.9 t^2
that is quadratic because of t^2
