Friar Lawrence advises Juliet to pretend to agree to her parents' wishes and marry Paris but to drink a potion that will make her seem dead for 42 hours. During this time, Friar Lawrence will send a letter to Romeo to inform him of the plan to have Juliet wake up in the Capulet tomb, and the two can then escape together to Mantua.
