The weight of the world
Crushing down on my chest
An invisible force
Stealing my breath
My heart aches with sorrow
For the loneliness I feel
Invisible to those around me
Like an imaginary friend that's not real
The darkness consumes me
And I can't escape its hold
A prisoner to my own mind
As I struggle to be bold
I long for a connection
To break this cycle of despair
But my screams are silenced
In the stillness of the air
Depression is a monster
That devours from within
Leaving behind a shell
Of the person I've always been
So I'll keep on fighting
Against this invisible foe
Holding on to hope
That one day I'll glow.
Crushing down on my chest
An invisible force
Stealing my breath
My heart aches with sorrow
For the loneliness I feel
Invisible to those around me
Like an imaginary friend that's not real
The darkness consumes me
And I can't escape its hold
A prisoner to my own mind
As I struggle to be bold
I long for a connection
To break this cycle of despair
But my screams are silenced
In the stillness of the air
Depression is a monster
That devours from within
Leaving behind a shell
Of the person I've always been
So I'll keep on fighting
Against this invisible foe
Holding on to hope
That one day I'll glow.
