An electrical wears rubber gloves when working on electrical wiring. What is the purpose of the rubber gloves ?

The rubber is and electrical insulator. If you touch a positive terminal with your right hand and a negative one with your left (or either and ground) your body will likely fry, particularly if your hands are wet. The rubber hinders that flow of current.
