There are eight planets in our solar system, in order from the sun they are: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. However, there is ongoing debate on whether or not Pluto should be considered a planet, as it was reclassified as a dwarf planet by the International Astronomical Union in 2006.
