no idea what "5x°" means. If it's 5x^3, and the 3x^2-x^2 is really 3x^3-x^2, then we have
(5x^3 + 3x^2+7x)- (3x^3-x^2 + 4x - 1) = 2x^3 + 4x^2 + 3x + 1
degree 3, 4 terms
