Question
The length of a triangle is twice the width. The area is 32 square units. Find the length and width.
I have the length of the triangle=2x and the width=x...
so would the equation be 2x(x)=32
OR NO?
Assume the "length" is the height measured from some side we will call the "base" with width x. The height is in this case 2x. The area is
(1/2) x*2x = x^2 = 32
Therefore
x = sqrt 32 = 5.657 and
2x = 11.314
