Sound waves rely on particles so that they can transfer their energy.
Water waves are most affected by gravitational pull because of how the moon is positioned toward the earth. this causes high tides and low tides, causing waves.
Sound and Seismic Waves can cause vibrations through the matter they come in contact with, due to their waves.
Sound is used by ships and such to detect what is moving in the water by emitting high-powered sounds that go through the water waves. (These are very deadly depending on how much energy is used in the output, and how close you are.) A somewhat clear explanation on the subject, but it's not like you guys need this much.
