What is Symbolic Protest in Illegitimate Polics terms?I ask my lecturer and he says where people from the same department come together and say that they don't want to work.Is it correct?

In the US, we have police or firemen call in "sick"...we actually call it the "blue" flue. Wearing some silly button or banner on clothing, in fact, any type of protest that violates some organizational rule.
You are probably too young to remember the bra protests in the sixties, or the men's knee pants protests of the fifties (there actually was one in my graduating class...boys wore knee pants (Bermuda Shorts) which had been banned).
