The Call of the Wild is a novel by Jack London that tells the story of Buck, a domesticated dog who is taken from his comfortable home in California and sold to be a sled dog in the Yukon during the 1890s Klondike Gold Rush. After being mistreated by his first owner, Buck is eventually adopted by John Thornton, a kind and gentle man who teaches Buck to embrace his wild side. Buck learns to survive in the harsh environment of the Yukon and eventually leads a pack of wolves. He eventually finds his true place in the wild and is content with his life.
