you have a wooden deck that measures 7 feet by 12 feet you build an addition to it it is 4 feet longer what is the perimeter

Assuming that all 4 sides are open, and you added 4 feet to only the length,

original perimeter = 2(7+12) = 38
now you added 8 ft, so
new perimeter = 38+8 = 46 ft
