Why don’t hurricanes form at high northern latitudes (like near New York)?

Hurricanes require warm ocean temperatures to form and sustain their energy. The ocean temperatures near New York are too cold to support the formation of a hurricane. Additionally, the Coriolis effect, which is responsible for the rotation of hurricanes, is weaker at higher northern latitudes.
