Two boats A and B left a port C at the same time on different routes. B travelled on a bearing of 150° and A travelled on the north side of B. When A had travelled 8km and B had travelled 10km, the distance between the two boats was found to be 12km. Calculate the bearing of A's route from C?

as always, draw a diagram.
If C is at (0,0) then
B is at (5,-5√3)
A lies on the intersection of the circles
x^2 + y^2 = 64
(x-5)^2 + (y+5√3)^2 = 144
so that means A is at (7.37,3.10)
so A's bearing from C is
arctan(7.37/3.1) = 67°
If C is at (0,0) then
B is at (5,-5√3)
A lies on the intersection of the circles
x^2 + y^2 = 64
(x-5)^2 + (y+5√3)^2 = 144
so that means A is at (7.37,3.10)
so A's bearing from C is
arctan(7.37/3.1) = 67°
