3 x / 4 + 6 / 2 + 1 / 2 = 12 / 2 + 1 / 2 - 2 x / 3

3 x / 4 + 7 / 2 = 13 / 2 - 2 x / 3

Add 2 x / 3 to both sides.

3 x / 4 + 2 x / 3 + 7 / 2 = 13 / 2

Subtract 7 / 2 to both sides.

3 x / 4 + 2 x / 3 = 6 / 2

3 x / 4 + 2 x / 3 = 3

3 • 3 x / 3 • 4 + 4 • 2 x / 4 • 3 = 3

9 x / 12 + 8 x / 12 = 3

17 x / 12 = 3

Multiply both sides by 12.

17 x = 36

x = 17 / 36
