ok im confused
would ionic or covalent substances be more "dangerous" near an open flame? and why would they be more dangerous?

I gave an answer that was accurate BUT hedged a little because not all covalent compounds are dangerous. And some of the answer depends upop exactly how dangerous is defined. Walking off a cliff is "dangerous" but not nearly so if we are wearing a parachute or have a rope to hold us up.
