draw a right triangle with legs 2t and 1-t^2
the hypotenuse is 1+t^2
so
sinθ = 2t/(1+t^2)
cosθ = (1-t^2)/(1+t^2)
the hypotenuse is 1+t^2
so
sinθ = 2t/(1+t^2)
cosθ = (1-t^2)/(1+t^2)
