If x = (-3y / |-4|) + 6, what is the value of y in terms of x?

1 answer

Since | - 4 | = 4

x = ( - 3 y / | - 4 | ) + 6

becomes

x = - 3 y / 4 + 6

Subtract 6 to both sides

x - 6 = - 3 y / 4

Multiply both sides by 4

4 x - 24 = - 3 y

Divide both sides by - 3

- 4 / 3 x + 8 = y

y = - 4 / 3 x + 8
