A young man measures 1.7m tall,while standing measures the angle of elevation of the top of a pole as 40°.If he is 15m from the pole,what is the height of the pole.

assuming his eyes are on the top of his head, then a simple diagram will show that the height h can be found using
(h-1.7)/15 = tan40°
