A car of mass 500kg is towing a trailer of mass 200kg. The cars engine
exerts a driving force of 1500N. The resistance to motion on the car is
300N and the resistance to motion of the car trailer is 200N.
a) Find the acceleration of the system

I found it hard to get the answer caused I failed this on test

total mass = 700 kg
total effective force is 1500 - 300-200 = 1000N
F = ma, so a = 1000/700 = 1.428 m/s^2
