L = length

W = width

P = perimeter

A = area

The length of a rectangle is 4 cm longer than it’s width mesns:

L = W + 4

P = 2 ( L + W ) = 44

Replacw L by W + 4 in this equation.

2 ( W + 4 + W ) = 44

2 ( 2 W + 4 ) = 44

Divide both sides by 2

2 W + 4 = 22

2 W = 22 - 4 = 18

W = 18 / 2

W = 9 cm

L = W + 4 = 9 + 4

L = 13 cm

A = L • W = 13 • 9

A = 117 cm²
