I am confused between two different namings
1) 4,6-dichloro-3-propylnonane-2,5-dione
2) 4,6-dichloro-3-propyl-2,5-nonanedione

I am really confused where I should put the "nonane" could you help me please

I am far from being an organic chemist but I would use your second choice. That way the diones are numbers. However, you should confirm this with an organic chemist who is up on iupac nomenclature. Also I suggest you Google this and see what you get. Sorry but I'm just not up on all the new rules.
