The north relied of factories and had little to no need for slaves. They did not have large farms. They made cities larger and used more natural Resorces. They South was the opposite. They heavily relied on the north for anything other than cash crops like rice, cotton, sugar cane, and Tabaco (horrible for you btw). The north also heavily relied on slaves and their reluctance to give up slaver would soon lead to the civil war.
