    For 3d electrons, n = 3, so l (ell) can be 0, 1, 2. The 0 and 1 values are for the s and p electrons in the 3s and 3p shell.The d electrons are for l = 2
Then for the five 3d orbitals, you have ml = -2, -1, 0, +1, +2
and for electrons in those 3d orbitals each can have +1/2 or -1/2 for ms.
