If I take 0 out of arithmetic then what do I have left mathematically? What is the name for the mathematics that does not have zero in it? Is this mathematics used in the real world?

Roman numerals had no zero. It made calculation very difficult. Nobody uses that kind of numbering anymore, except for movie sequels, Super Bowls and clock dials.
