Use the excerpt from "Birches" by Robert Frost to answer the question.

"When I see birches bend to left and right

Across the lines of straighter darker trees,

I like to think some boy's been swinging them.

But swinging doesn't bend them down to stay."

In 3–5 sentences, write about the author’s repetitive use of the “b” sound and its significance in the excerpt. Use details from the excerpt to support your ideas.

While this passage doesn't use alliteration in the normal way (if there is a normal way — be sure to read that website), there is a large number of b's, for sure.

Once you write up your thoughts, post them here if you want someone to check your work.

The b's are all alliterations. Alliterations are created when the words all begin with the same letter. Alliterations are used to add character to the writing and often add an element of ‘fun’ to the piece.

is this bad?

You've copied directly from that website, which will get you in trouble. It's plagiarism!

1. How can you say all that in your own words?
2. Also, the directions say, "Use details from the excerpt to support your ideas." I don't see any details/examples from the poem to prove your points.

Figurative language helps younger and older readers understand the effects of the poem shown. This will allow the reader(s) to make their own meaning to it, which will conclude to making the poem more fun and meaningful.
