A parallelogram has a base of 5 units and a height of (x+6) units. The area of this parallelogram is 20 square units. What is the value of x ?

well, since A = bh,
5(x+6) = 20
now just find x

There seems to be an error in your posting. Formula as you have your data posted gives you a negative area.

Base * height = area

5(x+6) = 20
