Claim: Have you ever wondered if graffiti can be considered as art? Considering that the definition of graffiti is "writing or drawings scribbled, scratched, or sprayed illicitly on a wall or other surface in a public place." I will say it is not considered as vandalism, but of course, the decision should come from the artists that actually creates graffiti.

Reasons: What I know is that some people call graffiti artists, real artists. I know that graffiti is getting more noticed and people would consider it a piece of artwork, than decades ago.

Evidence: From the source ....................., Pearce says "Graffiti is 100% art, It’s a symbol of rebellion, and it presents a fantastic new form of creativity, but what makes it art is an individual’s opinion." Coming from many authors (..............), they say that "Graffiti is a type of art that is being more popular by the decades, most graffiti artists draw graffiti because it's a passion of the individuals'."

I am not an artist nor am I a graffiti-ist; however, in my opinion, as long as the definition contains the words "illicitly on a wall or other surface in a public place" then it is a crime and whether it is art or not won't keep one from paying the consequences of a fine or jail time. However, if one speculates that a graffiti-ist sprays/scratches/whatever on a wall that is not in a public place then what it is is in the eyes of the beholder. In this case if the graffiti-ist wishes to call it art then it is art. Just my opinion.
