sin^2x - sinx - 2 = 0

factoring ... (sinx - 2) (sinx + 1) = 0

sinx - 2 = 0 ... sinx = 2 ... spurious solution

sinx + 1 = 0 ... sinx = -1 ... x = -π / 2
