what fruit loop meant to say is that
(3x^2 + 5x + 8) + (6x^2 + 3x + 2)
= 3x^2+6x^2 + 5x+3x + 8+2
= 9x^2 + 8x + 10

(8x^2 + 6x + 3) - (4x^2 + 3x + 2)
= 8x^2-4x^2 + 6x-3x + 3-2
= 4x^2 + 3x + 1
