it works because our number system has no zero divisors. This is sometimes called the zero property of multiplication.
if a*b = 0
either a=0 or b=0.
Thus, if x(x+5)(x-2)(x-6) = 0 then either
x = 0
x+5 = 0
x-2 = 0
x-6 = 0
if a*b = 0
either a=0 or b=0.
Thus, if x(x+5)(x-2)(x-6) = 0 then either
x = 0
x+5 = 0
x-2 = 0
x-6 = 0
