two boys pull a tree stump with ropes. the ropes are at an angle of 90 degrees to each other. one boy pulls with a force of 80N and the other boy pulls with a force of 60N.
Find, by a suitable scale drawing, the resultant force of the ropes on the tree stump.

sqrt(60^2 + 80^2) = sqrt (3600 + 6400) = 10 sqrt(36+64) = 100 Newtons
tan (angle above East) = 8/6 = 4/3
angle above East = 53.1 deg
