1/2 + (1/3)(1-1/2)
= 1/2 + (1/3)(1/2)
= 1/2 + 1/6
= 3/6 + 1/6
= 4/6
= 2/3
= 1/2 + (1/3)(1/2)
= 1/2 + 1/6
= 3/6 + 1/6
= 4/6
= 2/3

Lets see if its A:
If it were A he would've eaten 6/12 for lunch which would leave 6/12 that means he would've eaten 2/12 for dinner because 1/3 of 6/12 is 2/12 but that's not an option so it's not A
Lets see if its B:
we know it's not B because the problem stated that he ate 1/3 of what was left not the whole to begin with
Lets see if its C:
using the same way we figured out if it was A we need to find what 1/2 is equal to in this case it's 3/6 so we have 3/6 left that means we need to know what 1/3 of 3/6 is, the answer is 1/6 so C is correct
sorry for the long explanation hope it helps 😃
