x + 1/x = 4
x^2 - 4x + 1 = 0
x = (4±√12)/2 = 2±√3
2-√3 < 1 so
x = 2+√3
check: 1/(2+√3) = 2-√3
so 2+√3 + 2-√3 = 4
x^2 - 4x + 1 = 0
x = (4±√12)/2 = 2±√3
2-√3 < 1 so
x = 2+√3
check: 1/(2+√3) = 2-√3
so 2+√3 + 2-√3 = 4
