The perimeter of a bookmark is 20 centimeters. The area is 16 square centimeters. What are the dimensions of the bookmark?

2 w + 2 L= 20 or w + L = 10
w L = 16
so L = 16/w
so
w + 16/w =10
w^2 - 10 w + 16 = 0
(w-8)(w-2)=0
w= 8 or 2
so L = 2 or 8 :)
w L = 16
so L = 16/w
so
w + 16/w =10
w^2 - 10 w + 16 = 0
(w-8)(w-2)=0
w= 8 or 2
so L = 2 or 8 :)
