A letter R on a piece of paper is observed under a microscope. The image observed is vertically inverted and laterally inverted. Why?
What is the science definition of laterally inverted?
Thanks a lot.

A lens will vertically invert, and a mirror will laterally invert.
However, since this is not my area of expertise, I searched Google under the key words "<I>laterally inverted image</I>" to get these possible sources:
http://www.tiscali.co.uk/reference/encyclopaedia/hutchinson/m0030303.html

In the future, you can find the information you desire more quickly, if you use appropriate key words to do your own search. Also see http://hanlib.sou.edu/searchtools/.
I hope this helps. Thanks for asking.
