Josiah made cookies to sell. 3/5 of the cookies were packed into 19 small bags and 4 medium bags. 2/3 of the remaining cookies were packed into 5 big bags. 3 The rest of the cookies were given out as free samples. There are twice as many cookies in each medium bag as each small bag. There are 7 more cookies in each big bag than each small bag. (a) What fraction of the cookies were given out as free samples? (b) How many cookies were there in all the big bags?

If a small bag has x cookies, then if there were y cookies in all,
19x + 4*2x = 3/5 y
5(x+7) = 2/3 * 2/5 y = 4/15 y
solve for x and y
free samples: (1 - 3/5 - 4/15)y = 2/15 y
19x + 4*2x = 3/5 y
5(x+7) = 2/3 * 2/5 y = 4/15 y
solve for x and y
free samples: (1 - 3/5 - 4/15)y = 2/15 y
