ABC is a right-angled triangle, right angle at A, D and E are two points on side AB and AC respectively. If length of BD is 3 and of EC is 4, and the length of FG d then the value of 2d is, where F and G are the mid points of the line segment DE and BC respectively

using vectors, if
u = AB
v = AC
z = FG
then
z = 3/2 (u-v) + 1
so d = |3/2 (u-v) + 1|
and d depends on the lengths of AB and AC.
