Do you mean "air" expired? If so bubble that air through Ca(OH)2 solution, If it turns cloudy due to the formation of CaCO3 it shows the presense of CO2.
CO2 + Ca(OH)2 --> CaCO3 + H2O
CO2 + Ca(OH)2 --> CaCO3 + H2O
