Watch the Candy Shop video. In this reaction, a student determined that the mass of the carbon product was less than the mass of the sulfuric acid and sugar that were combined. How would you account for this loss of mass? Use evidence and scientific reasoning to support your answer.

I didn't see video of anything to do with this reaction. I assume a student added concentration H2SO4 to sucrose and made an observation that the C mass of the product did not support the Law of Conservation of Mass. The obvious answer is that other products are formed. The balanced equation follows:
C12H22O11 + 24 H2SO4 → 24 SO2 + 12 CO2 + 35 H2O
C12H22O11 + 24 H2SO4 → 24 SO2 + 12 CO2 + 35 H2O
