A hummingbird's nest is 16 feet high in a tree and a flower is on the ground 12 feet away from the base of the tree. How far will the hummingbird need to fly to get from its nest to the flower?

hypotenuse^2 = 12^2 + 16^2
= 144 + 256
= 400
so sqrt (400) = sqrt (4*100) = 2*10 = 20
(3,4,5 triangle by the way)
